US seeks pressure on independent states

TEHRAN, Feb. 20 (MNA) – Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said the US has always sought to put pressure on independent countries and does not want peace to be established in different regions.

Larijani made the remarks on Sunday in a meeting with Chairman of Supreme People’s Assembly of Democratic People's Republic of Korea Choe Thae-bok.

Pointing to good relations between Iran and North Korea, Larijani said Iran looks for stability in ties with North Korea; the North Korean delegation will participate in the 6th International Conference in support of “Palestinian Intifada”, which is certainly a very important issue and the presence of North Koreans in the event is valuable, he added.

He praised North Korea's aids to Iran during the Imposed War, adding Americans always look for putting pressure on independent states and they do not want peace to be established in different regions.

“Islamic Republic’s approach is the establishment of peace in the Middle East region and the Korean Peninsula and we are against the provocative measures of the United States,” he noted.

Larijani stressed the need for expansion and strengthening of parliamentary cooperation between Iran and North Korea, saying economic relations between the two countries are not in a proper level and must be boosted.

Choe Thae-bok, for his part, referring to the widespread and long-standing relations of Iran and North Korea, said Iran has an extensive role in supporting the goals of the Palestinian people, NAM, Syria and developing countries; “International Conference in support of “Palestinian Intifada” will certainly run successfully in supporting Palestinian people.”

He underlined that the Islamic Republic has reached great successes and achievements in the economic and defense spheres.

Pointing to US policies in the international arena, Thae-bok said Americans impose sanctions against independent states; expansion of ties is an effective way to thwart the measures made by the US, he added.

Unfortunately, the US always interferes in domestic affairs of other countries; it poses military threats against North Korea which is an anti-American country, he added.

North Korea is always looking for unity between North Korea and South Korea, but the American presence in the Korean Peninsula prevent the realization of the issue, he concluded.
